Mission accomplished: We reconnected! On Oct 3 and 4, there was much reconnecting going on in Montreal among our 330+ conference participants! Indeed, we did reconnect...
in person - to catch-up, after such a long period of physical isolation
in action - to leave our screens aside and do stuff together, out there!
in spirit - to reflect, after being forced to repeatedly react and respond
in partnership - to strengthen our ties, after being mostly disconnected
in theory - to expand our mindsets and imagine solutions beyond practice
in practice - to share, after learning to respond creatively to the unexpected
as a network - to increase our collective impact, after working on our own
in the hope of building/re-building trust for ideal conditions for Reconciliation VIEW AUDIOVISUAL MONTAGE OF THE EVENT A huge thank you to all our speakers, attendees,
sponsors, partners, donors, suppliers, contractors, volunteers, staff and Board members who made it such a success!

We're delighted to welcome
PFC's newest members The Equality Fund believes that too many institutions that weren’t made for or by women, girls and trans people are standing in the way, or not moving fast enough to deliver the social and structural changes they demand and deserve. So, they are building a power base of their own: the most ambitious fund for gender equality in history, inspired by feminists, managed by feminists, in collaboration with and in service of feminist movements worldwide The Law Foundation of British Columbia believes in a society where access to justice is protected and advanced. It exists to advance and promote a just society governed by the rule of law, through leadership, innovation and collaboration. Its mandate is to fund legal education, legal research, legal aid, law reform and law libraries for the benefit of British Columbians. Vancity Community Foundation is a charitable foundation connected to a credit union.
They believe that if all their assets are invested in building healthy communities, where cooperative principles and practices are flourishing and social justice and environmental sustainability are enhanced, the world will be a better place and their community well-being will be enhanced.
PFC's recommendations for budget 2023To help philanthropy advance the common good, we are asking that the government: - ensure supports around the new disbursement quota rules and new qualifying disbursements regime, through resources, training and clarifying language about pooled funding.
- commit to regular reviews of the disbursement quota regime.
- address the data deficit about our sector by overhauling the T3010 and tracking impact investment.
- designate a “home” for the non-profit and charitable sector within the machinery of government.

In memoriam:
André Chagnon, OC, OQ - 1928-2022It is with great sadness that the Canadian philanthropic sector learned of the recent death of the great philanthropist and business builder, André Chagnon. For us, he was the founder of the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation (1988) and a founding member of our pan-Canadian Philanthropic Foundations Canada (PFC) network in 2000. It is on behalf of all PFC members that we offer our sincere condolences to the family and underline Mr. Chagnon's exceptional contribution to Quebec society. The philanthropic world recognizes his achievements and humanitarian commitment, and his contributions as a respected entrepreneur and leading figure in technological innovation.

State of Ontario’s nonprofit sector in 2022In Spring 2022, ONN conducted a sector-wide survey with l’Assemblée de la Francophonie de l’Ontario (l’AFO) to gather critical data on the state of Ontario’s nonprofits regarding financial health, staffing and volunteers, and general operations. Nearly 1,500 groups responded and helped reveal much about nonprofits’ commitment to continue serving communities, while addressing fallout from the pandemic alongside unprecedented demand for services, and a domino effect of record-breaking inflation, deepening financial precarity, and a relentless HR and volunteer crisis.
