Innovative lung-imaging technique shows cause of long-COVID symptoms

A new study by researchers at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is one of the first to discover that symptoms associated with long-COVID are related to issues affecting oxygen exchange from lungs to the blood.

A new study led by Western researchers reveals critical details about the formation of sand clouds on other planets, providing a better understanding of how their atmospheres work.

Call to name: Scholarships of excellence for Black students 
Do you know a Black community leader who demonstrates excellence in education? Honour them by having a Western scholarship named after them. Western is accepting name submissions from staff, faculty, students and alumni until July 28.   

Matt Davison to serve as Faculty of Science dean until 2029  
Matt Davison has been re-appointed dean of the Faculty of Science for a second term beginning July 1, 2023. Davison was originally appointed to the role in 2018.   

WTS Helpdesk unavailable this weekend 
Western Technology Services is scheduling a migration to the Atlassian Cloud this weekend. Jira Service Desk and Helpdesks for employees and students will be unavailable from today at 5 p.m. until Monday, July 11 at 8 a.m.

This McIntosh Gallery exhibition addresses the concept of animality, a holistic term that explores the idea of restructuring relationships between humans and non-human species. Curated by art and visual culture PhD candidate Ashley Snook, NODES represents her final work within the program as her graduate thesis exhibition, featuring sculpture, drawing, video and experiential installation. 

July 12 (12 p.m.) 
Supporting 2SLGBTQ+ people within faith communities  

The Office of EDI is hosting a virtual panel discussion with faith leaders facilitated by the executive director of Encounter World Religions Brian Carwana. Pastor Sandie Thomas, Rabbi Seth Goran and Imam Abd Alfatah Twakkal will discuss how their communities of faith support the 2SLGBTQ+ community and help them feel included and valued.
