Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident or Family Member,

Important Update for Residents and Families: Further positive COVID-19 cases identified at Calvary The Brelsford

I am writing to inform you that unfortunately an additional twelve (12) residents and five (5) staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 at Calvary The Brelsford. This brings the total number of positive residents at The Brelsford to twenty two (22), and positive staff to seven (7).

One of the additional positive residents resides in Pearl unit (2). In line with Public Health Unit advice, all Pearl unit residents must remain in and be cared for in their rooms.

The current number of positive residents in Emerald unit is now fifteen (15). No further positive cases have been identified in Sapphire which remains at five (5) positive cases. Ruby remains free of positive cases.

All residents and staff have been RAT tested today. Those who have tested positive have immediately been PCR tested.  Given the ongoing high demand for community testing, we are not able confirm a timeframe for when we will receive results. However we will keep you updated as they come through.

Please see updated detail below regarding resident’s movement within the home:

• Sapphire Unit- All residents in isolation and will be cared for in their rooms.
• Emerald Unit- All residents in isolation and will be cared for in their rooms.
• Pearl Unit- All residents in isolation and will be cared for in their rooms.
• Ruby unit still does not have any active cases, and our Memory Support residents may move freely within their unit.

Calvary The Brelsford remains closed to all visitors. Visitor exceptions may be made for end of life visits.  Please speak to your home manager in relation to visitation.

Our staff are in contact with the families of the COVID positive residents and are keeping them informed. Calvary will update you again via email as soon as any information becomes available including test results.

Please be assured that our staff have prepared for exposures and outbreaks such as this. Our staff are trained in strict infection control procedures and continue to focus all their attention on the individual care needs of residents.

Thank you for you continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,
