We are sure many of us were disappointed by the government’s decision to extend the current restrictions for another month. To make the best of the situation, we are planning to resume some in-person sessions for ANZA Soccer players, while recognizing that our unique format and cost structure imposes limitations that for-profit academies may not face. At present, here are the decisions made by the Committee since the government’s most recent announcement:
Weekday Trainings Will Resume
Whilst groups-of-2 is not an ideal format, we will resume weekday trainings (comp teams and general training) run by our professional, paid coaches. Sessions will resume next Monday, 25 October. One pro coach will take charge of up to 4 groups of 2. New protocols will be available by Sunday.
Registration: As before, comp teams will organize their sessions directly, while for general trainings parents must register through the online registration page:
Schedule: Sessions will take place on the same schedule as previously (*except B16 & B18 will start at 5 pm on Tuesdays now):

Saturday Sessions Under Consideration, Committee To Discuss
Our Saturday sessions rely on parent coaches, and therefore we have to take into consideration the limitations and risks we face in restarting our Saturday programme under current conditions:
Strict protocols with significant monetary penalties to the Cage if anyone breaches them and/or government penalties levied on the Cage and/or ANZA Soccer.
Space constraints if more coaches must attend for the extra, smaller groups.
Extra organising by our volunteers
to account for everyone’s whereabouts.
A less familiar type of training parent coaches will be asked to provide, as there will be no possibility of mixing or even passing between “couples,” and no games.
For these reasons, at our Wednesday, 27 October meeting, the Committee will discuss whether Saturday sessions are feasible, with the following options:
If the Committee decides they are feasible, Saturday sessions will start on 6 November to provide time for organising, booking
pitches, etc.
If Saturday sessions are NOT considered feasible, we will offer make-up sessions later in the season to make up for the extended pause.
Communication with AGC/CTCs
Please look out for communications from your AGC and/or CTC for more updates, and to provide them with feedback about your preferences if you wish. Parent coaches and SMOs are also asked to consider whether they would like to go ahead with groups of 2 or wait and have more normal sessions later in the season, government rules permitting.
We remind everyone that all our organisers are volunteers, and we are all trying our best to offer programmes that allow the children to have fun, stay healthy mentally and physically, and play with their friends (or at least one friend, for now).
Thank you for your support and understanding -
