UAFP Fall CME: Updates in Managing DM and Obesity

The Utah Academy of Family Physicians cordially invites you to attend two CME/AAFP-certified, MOC and MIPS-eligible webinars, held live online! The T2DM program will familiarize physicians with the pathophysiology of CVD in T2DM, results of cardiovascular outcomes trials of antihyperglycemics, and recommendations from several societies regarding the use of these agents in patients with T2DM who have or are at risk for CVD. The Obesity activity will provide clinicians with a greater understanding of the disease of obesity, including its etiology and physiologic effects, and management strategies, including the efficacy and safety of anti-obesity medications and how and when to incorporate them into individualized management plans. COVID-19 Booster Rollout Begins as Vaccination Rate Climbs - AAFP Approves Recommendations for Third Dose
AAFP - The CDC announced in a Sept. 24 press release, “endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ recommendation for a booster shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in certain populations and also recommended a booster dose for those in high-risk occupational and institutional settings.” The press release pointed to the FDA’s Aug. 23 full approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for individuals 16 and older, and its own guidance, as “important steps forward as we work to stay ahead of the virus and keep Americans safe.” The AAFP approved the recommendations following an expedited review of the evidence. Nominations for AAFP Commissions, AAFP AMA Delegation, and ABFM Board of Directors Positions Open
AAFP - Are you interested in serving on an AAFP Commission, AAFP AMA Delegation, or ABFM Board of Directors? Positions are available! Accessing the forms is done via the AAFP website and is available until October 15, 2021. UAFP can make recommendations to assist the board in making commission member appointments for 2022. At the December 2021 meeting, the Board of Directors will fill 23 commission vacancies including one chapter staff position on seven AAFP commissions, 11 AMA delegation positions created by expiring terms of members, and the ABFM Director
