World Aquaculture Conference to highlight NT’s thriving industry

29 May 2023

The Territory Labor Government is pleased to announce that the 2023 World Aquaculture Conference is coming to Darwin shores.

This world-renowned conference is returning to Australia, taking place in the Convention Centre from May 29th to June 1st 2023, for the first time since 2014 and will welcome hundreds of participants from across the globe.

The 2023 theme “Supporting Strength in Aquaculture” focuses on the future of the aquaculture industry, which is incredibly important to the Territory Labor Government.

Growth, environmental impacts and sustainability are three of the leading priorities for the NT Government as we strive to create a holistic plan for the agribusiness and aquaculture by developing a 2030 strategy.

The fishing and aquaculture industry is worth approximately $100 million to the local economy and supports upwards of 900 full time jobs, and with a supportive government and significant opportunities to expand the local aquaculture industry, the Territory is a prime location for the conference.

The NT Government supports a sustainable aquaculture industry and this major international conference and trade show will attribute to our dedication to the world aquaculture community.

Over the four days, participants can expect to hear from academics, industry researchers, market and industry analysts, as well as ample learning and networking opportunities.
