A Sydney institution, the Royal Easter Show will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2023. Beginning in Parramatta in 1823, the show moved venues several times before settling in Moore Park from 1882-1997. Run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, the event showcases excellence in agriculture, but has also provided entertainment, competitions and education to thousands over the years. In 1937, Waverley school students made a clean sweep of the essay competition sponsored by the show winning across all three age categories. You can read the essay by Marie Healey here, or explore the history of the Easter Show at the Virtual Museum.
