Cinesound Studios was an Australian film studio based in Bondi Junction from 1925-1951. Cinesound created home grown hits, newsreels and documentaries including the Thrill of the Surf. Filmed in 1949 at Bondi Beach and commentated by John Moyes, the film is an early example of sports documentary and Australian surf culture, including a cameo by Bondi surf lifesavers.
The Waverley Library Galleries are currently accepting applications for its 2023-2024 exhibition program. All artists, mediums and experience levels are welcome but in particular, we want local artists making work appropriate to a vibrant Library environment.
