Masterton to Carterton safety improvements project: Ngaumutawa roundabout

Kia ora koutou

We trust you had a relaxing holiday break and had the chance to enjoy some time with friends and family. As we look ahead into 2023, we wanted to update you around the construction of the Ngaumutawa roundabout.

Construction is due to get under way in the second half of February and run through to mid-year. As it’s the busiest intersection we’re dealing with as part of the project, it does have the potential for disruption and delays, particularly at peak times. Our traffic management plan and the implementation of temporary lower speed limits and other safety measures through the site will aim to minimise this as much as possible. Even with this in mind, and the fact that we’ll be carrying out the most disruptive work at night, road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.

We’ll keep you updated throughout the rest of the project and will also be working closely with businesses and other stakeholders in the immediate area, including Solway School, to manage any concerns they may have. In addition to the monthly project newsletter, we’ll be posting regular updates on Waka Kotahi’s social media channels, and any assistance you can provide through sharing these messages with your stakeholders would be much appreciated. You can sign up to the SH2 Wairarapa newsletter here.

Ngā mihi,
SH2 Wairarapa project team.
