Welcome to a month of gratitude and preparation. During November, we celebrate our first-generation college students on National First Gen Day on November 8th and mark our students’ faith and courage in being the first in their families to complete a bachelor’s degree. We also give thanks to our student veterans and military families. Throughout the month, a variety of events and services will be available to our student veterans and dependents to honor their sacrifice and valuable contribution to our community.

Students will also be busy preparing for the spring semester. They're required to meet with their faculty advisor to be cleared to register for spring classes. They should visit their student tab on my.TLU.edu to confirm their registration day and time, and confirm that there are no holds on their account preventing registration.

  • Advising Week: November 10 -14 *Although some larger departments start earlier.
  • Registration Week: November 17- 21
  • Make-up Registration: December 10 -11

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at parents@tlu.edu.

Advising Support - Registration

Prior to the week of registration, every student needs to see their academic advisor and be cleared for registration. Without advisor clearance, students won’t be able to access the add/drop features of the myTLU portal when their registration window opens. Encourage your student to make an appointment to see their advisor. The advisor assigned to each student can be found by navigating to the Student tab and clicking on the Advising link (upper left).

Nov. 17-21 | Spring 2026 Registration

Registration for spring courses is November 17-21. Students have a registration window which is set according to career hours earned and can be viewed on the Student page of the myTLU portal. The Student page is very helpful because it not only displays the registration window for each student, it also displays holds that could prevent registration. When registration opens, the add/drop courses link is also found on the Student page.

Housing Selection is Changing for Fall 2026!

Campus Living will be hosting several housing meetings to go over new changes coming to the housing application and selection process. These meetings are mandatory so students understand the new process.

There is also a new lottery system that some lucky students will win to reside in the same room they currently live in for the 2026-27 academic year. We will have our first two meetings on November 19, starting at 12 p.m. in the Timmerman room in Hein Dining Hall, and on November 20, starting at 7 p.m. in the Timmerman room in Hein Dining Hall.

Dec. 5 | First Gen Graduation

We are celebrating our First-Generation students as they accomplish a huge milestone in graduating from Texas Lutheran University!

Please celebrate with us as we honor our graduates and their families and friends who have supported them on their journey.

November is Veterans Month

Throughout the month, we have been celebrating and recognizing the incredible service and sacrifice of our veterans with a series of special events and activities.

TLU Counseling Services

This can be a stressful time of year for students. Counseling Services are available for quick consults or in-depth processing Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Appointments are encouraged and can be made through the portal. Virtual sessions are available. TimelyCare also offers virtual counseling support, available by appointment or on demand through the TalkNow feature.

We especially want to bring attention to the mental health of our veterans and military family members this month – and to men’s mental health issues. These groups can be underserved due to stigma and misconceptions about what it means to be strong, tough, or brave. We’ll be dispelling some of those myths on Instagram and around the main campus this month.
