We're writing to remind you that State Highway 2 over the Remutaka Hill will be closed for one night from 9pm this Sunday night 11 April to 4am Monday morning 12 April.
This 1-night closure allows our road crews to safely undertake essential maintenance and slip prevention works.
The steep, narrow and winding road is a challenging work environment - having it fully closed to traffic is essential to ensure the safety of our team and the quality of the works. There is also less traffic at night time.
Free shuttle service available
If you need to get over the hill for night work or essential commitments, please email remutaka@nzta.govt.nz as soon as possible to book your place on the shuttle service.
Access will always be available for emergency services throughout the closure.
