This weekly newsletter will keep you informed about what’s happening across the region’s state highways so you can plan ahead. Roadworks over the upcoming Waitangi Day long weekendAll non-essential roadworks will pause for the Waitangi Day long weekend with contractors shutting down sites from midday today, Thursday 5 February until midnight on Sunday 8 February. You may still see some of our crews out on the roads repairing potholes, responding to incidents, or carrying out essential work. If you're planning on travelling over this period, remember to check our Journey Planner for the most up to date information. |

SH6 Nelson to GreymouthSH6 Korere Road rebuild work at this site will resume on Monday 9 February following Waitangi Day weekend, and will continue until Friday 20 February. Crews will operate Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm (although work may be required some weekends). There will be stop/go traffic management and a 30km/h temporary speed limit during work hours. After hours, a temporary speed limit will be in place due to the uneven road surface. Expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Read our traffic bulletin for more information. SH6 Upper Buller Gorge, Newton Flat Road surface reconstruction will take place from Monday 9 February to Friday 6 March, between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Stop/go traffic management will be in place, with a temporary speed limit of 30km/h during working hours. Temporary speed restrictions will remain outside work hours due to an uneven surface. SH6 Granity Narrows and O'Sullivan's Junction Work at these two sites near Murchison will pause over the Waitangi Day weekend. At Granity Narrows, a 50km/h speed limit will remain in place, while at O’Sullivan’s Junction both lanes are open and normal speed limits apply. From Monday 9 February, crews will resume resilience work to help prevent rockfalls at both sites, with stop/go traffic management and 30km/h temporary speed limits in place 24/7 until the end of May. SH6 Nelson to BlenheimSH6 between Canvastown and Rai Valley Drainage works continue between Canvastown and Rai Valley until Friday 13 February, from 7am to 6pm under stop/go traffic management. Multiple sites are being completed as part of this project, with crews moving from one site to the next. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes. Please note, no work will be carried out over the Waitangi Day long weekend. SH6 Mahers Road Crews will establish onsite from Monday 9 February and will begin work on Monday 16 February to rebuild a 500-metre section of highway about 5km north of Renwick. Work will be carried out Mondays to Fridays, from 7am to 6pm. Stop/go traffic management will be in place during work hours and a 30km/h speed limit will apply at all times. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes. This work is scheduled to be completed by Friday 20 March. |

SH60 Nelson to Golden BaySH60 Tākaka Hill, Riwaka side Maintenance work will take place at a number of sites over the next several weeks. Monday 9 February to Friday 20 February - The Pines to Rider's Slip On Monday 9 February stop/go traffic management and a 30km/h speed limit will be in place from 7am to 5pm while machinery and site containers are unloaded in preparation for work onsite. From Tuesday 10 February until Friday 20 February intermittent stop/go traffic management and a 30km/h speed limit will be in place from 7am until 5pm as crews complete asphalting, coco mat installation and other works that could not be completed prior to the Christmas holiday period. Please allow extra time when travelling through this area. These works are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled at short notice. |
