Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident and Family Members,

COVID-19 Update for Residents and Families at Calvary Gympie Views

I am writing to inform you that unfortunately one (1) additional resident has tested positive for COVID-19 at Calvary Gympie Views since our last communication to you, bringing the total cases to fifteen (15) residents.  Our COVID positive residents are currently isolating and receiving care in their rooms, and we are keeping their families informed.

In line with Public Health Unit advice, another round of testing occurred today 22 April 2022 in Enright Wing, and no additional cases were found. Our next round of testing will occur on Monday 25 April 2022, and we will inform you of the results once we receive them.

Consistent with Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care, visitation to the home is permitted, however certain precautions remain in place to keep our residents, their visitors and our staff as safe as possible. Please see below:

Information for visitors during an outbreak

  • All wings, including Enright Wing are open to visits from one fully vaccinated visitor per resident, per day.
  • All visitor bookings must be made prior to visiting by calling (07) 5482 2634 between 8.30am – 5.00pm.
  • Visiting hours are between 11.00am - 1.30pm and 3.00pm - 4.30pm daily. This is to ensure all screening processes can be effectively completed prior to entry. Last visitor entry to the home is at 4.30pm, however visitors may stay later than this time.
  • All visitors will be supplied with the appropriate PPE (including face masks and shields as appropriate) to wear whilst visiting. Staff will assist you as required.
  • Visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

We will continue to liaise closely with Public Health Unit officials, who will make the decision about whether and when it is safe to remove the current visitation restrictions. We will keep you updated as information becomes available, and anticipate our next communication to you will be early next week.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Cassandra Schwartz
