(ERI) at the company’s Chandler, Indiana headquarters. The meeting and tour provided an invaluable forum for Rep. Bucshon to discuss his legislative priorities as a member of the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, which has extensive authority over many of the issues impacting the industry. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr Visits NATE Member in Alaska On Thursday, August 11, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Brendan Carr visited NATE member Learn to Return (LTR) Training Systems during his trip to Alaska. NATE Wireless Industry Network Alaska Liaison Brian Horner from LTR helped initiate the visit and tour. Since 1986, LTR has been Alaska’s premier and longest running full-spectrum survival school, maintaining the most comprehensive and diverse safety and survival training program catalog available. Senate Commerce Committee Members Introduce Broadband Buildout Bill On Wednesday, August 10, Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) announced their introduction of the Grant to Rapidly Invest and Deploy Broadband, or GRID Broadband Act. If enacted, the proposal would provide a robust new federal cost-share to spur investment in a nationwide middle-mile backbone along the nation’s existing electricity grid. House Transportation Committee Members Urge FCC for Waivers to Deploy C-V2X Technology within 5.9 GHz Spectrum Band On Monday, August 8, Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Committee Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO), Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), and Representative Rodney Davis (R-IL) sent a letter to FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel expressing their support for transportation stakeholders to have authority to operate Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology in the 5.9 GHz radio frequency band. The members urged the agency to issue waivers to stakeholders planning to deploy this technology for safety services in the near-term as the FCC develops its final rules regarding the use of C-V2X intelligent transportation systems (ITS) safety technology in the 5.895-5.925 GHz band.
