    From Beechworth Visitor Information Centre

    Hello everyone,

Great news for history lovers! The Burke Museum's beloved taxidermy collection is back on display following an extensive conservation project. When pest activity was discovered in 2024, the Burke Collections Management team worked with taxidermy expert Rudolph Pleschutschnig to implement a comprehensive treatment program including freezing, fumigation, and careful restoration work.

Thanks to funding from the Victorian Government's Regional Collections Access Program, local specialists, Period Building Conservation, have created beautiful new display cabinets that faithfully recreate James Kyle's original 1865 designs. The Burke Museum welcomes visitors daily from 10:00am to 4:30pm, with FREE entry for all local residents.

The Bike Hire Company is taking a well-earned winter break, parking the pedals for the season. They'll be back in spring, ready to gear you up for more two-wheeled adventures around our beautiful region.

If your tourism business is not featured on the official Beechworth website, please reach out and speak to us about getting listed; it’s free of charge! Contact us at the Visitor Information Centre on info@explorebeechworth.com.au 1300 366 321 and don’t forget to download the Victoria's High Country App
