Welcome to the Community Organisation Support Newsletter from Inclusion Barnet for Barnet Together (29th June)
Hello everyone! In case we haven't met yet, I'm Caitie - the new Community Organisation Support Communications Officer at Barnet Together. A little bit about me... After studying creative writing at university, I landed a job in sunny Seville, Spain, where I started my career as a digital marketing lead for a travel and tourism company. Seeking to make a greater impact, I transitioned to the VCSE sector, working in communications for a charity supporting visually impaired children. Now, I'm eager to combine my diverse skill set and
experiences to drive positive change within Inclusion Barnet as part of our work for Barnet Together. When I'm not working, you'll find me outside, camping, hiking, and wild swimming. I also enjoy painting and playing the guitar (badly!). I'm thrilled to be part of this incredible team and looking forward to working with you all! Can't find what you're looking for? Accessibility Tip: #01 We are excited to announce a new feature in the Barnet Together newsletter - Accessibility Tips! In this week's issue, we have invaluable advice provided by Accessible Social, focused on ensuring the best practices for using hashtags. Stay tuned to learn more about enhancing accessibility in our digital spaces! 'Make sure each word in multi-word hashtags
is discernible for assistive technology. This can be achieved by putting a hashtag in Camel Case or Pascal Case. Pascal Case is also referred to as Title Case.
- A hashtag in Camel Case #looksLikeThis, with the first word in all lowercase and then the first letter of each subsequent word capitalized.
- A hashtag in Pascal Case or Title Case #LooksLikeThis, with the first letter in each word of the hashtag capitalised.
Either formatting will make a hashtag accessible. Lowercase and uppercase letters help a screen reader identify separate words, allowing it to pronounce the hashtag correctly. This is one of the easiest accessibility best practices to follow.'
