Listening. Working for you! Over the past month, I’ve been busy listening and working for you, and wanted to let you know about some of the exciting things happening in our community. I'm thrilled to share some of the key highlights. 1. Regional health in the spotlight! I was recently joined in Toowoomba by Senator Anne Ruston, Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, to celebrate a fantastic grassroots achievement of our local community. Hope Horizons is doing an amazing job, supporting cancer patients and their families. The community is raising funds to ensure the Jenny Black Cancer Wellness Centre is delivered. If you can, please consider donating to help get this important project delivered. 2. Celebrated successful grant funding with our local community groups The Kath Dickson Family Centre does fantastic work in our community to support families, especially in a cost of living crisis. I was very proud to work with them to achieve funding under the Stronger Communities Programme. A grant of $15,000 has gone towards purchasing new equipment for their playgroups.
3. Working on local infrastructure priorities I was pleased to host Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Tony Pasin in the region to inspect our roads and discuss future priorities. A mutual priority is the upgrade of Neil Street culvert, where I joined Toowoomba Regional Councillors to explain the importance of safety upgrades and flood mitigation. 4. Community forums in Oakey and Pittsworth Thanks to everyone who came to let me know which issues are important to you. If you missed me, I'll be hosting three community pub nights next week - come for a chat! You can click below for more information, and to RSVP. I will keep on listening and working for our community, and continue to advocate for our region in Canberra.
