June 20, 2025 PFS 2025: Week 1 HighlightsDear PFS Community, We are thrilled to share the excitement of our 35th summer at Partnership for Success! It was such a joy to reconnect with our incredible teachers, dedicated interns, and enthusiastic students during Orientation and Family Night on June 13th—and even more exciting to welcome our Scholars back for their first day on June 16th. In the wake of the Eaton Fire and the many challenges our community continues to face, the start of this summer feels especially meaningful. Now more than ever, our mission to create a safe, joyful, and inspiring space for learning matters deeply. It is truly an honor to work with our Scholars and witness their resilience, curiosity, and brilliance as they dive into their summer studies. Already, the first week has been filled with powerful moments of learning, connection, and discovery. From the inspiring academic experiences that led students to exclaim, “I wish school could be like this every day!” to a parent sharing, “I haven’t heard my child talk about school like this in years!”—it’s clear that something special is happening across our sites. Our Scholars have enjoyed exciting field trips to the Gabrielino Trail, the Getty Center, St. Francis High School, and the Columbia Memorial Space Center. Our high school students also had the opportunity to meet Ryan Liu, an attorney and a Pasadena City College Board Member who shared his powerful journey as an immigrant navigating economic and learning challenges. His story—beginning at PCC and culminating with degrees from Yale and Oxford—reminded our Scholars of what’s possible when education, hard work, and support come together. We invite you to take a few moments to read the highlights from each site below. They offer just a glimpse into the dynamic and meaningful experiences our students are having this summer. We’re only getting started and can’t wait to see what Week 2 brings! Thank you for being part of the PFS family and for helping us carry forward this remarkable legacy of learning, opportunity, and hope. Here's to another incredible summer together! With gratitude and excitement,
Dr. Jessica Pérez del Toro
