Our Next Meeting
Barnet VCFSE Environmental NetworkWednesday 22 June, 2pm - 3:30pm
If you've already been to a Barnet VCFSE Environmental Network meeting then you'll automatically receive a MS Teams link for our next meeting on Wednesday 22 June, 2pm - 3:30pm. At this meeting we'll be joined by Andy Tipping, Barnet Council's Trees and Woodlands Manager to talk us through their new tree planting policy that aims to plant 5,000 trees by 2028 as part of the council’s goal to become one of London’s most sustainable boroughs.
If you've not joined us yet, then do email Ellen. These are informal and informative networking sessions for those working in the Barnet Voluntary, Community, Faith & Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, where we can come together to discuss environmental issues in the Borough, and work out how we as a sector can make a difference. This networking group will raise awareness of environmental projects that are happening in the Borough, help to establish partnerships and joint initiatives and seek funding opportunities. If you have any topics you would like to raise/discuss at future meetings, do let Ellen know. FOR PAST E-NEWSLETTERS
We're wild about this...Managed roadside wildflower verges
TfL more than doubles roadside area to be managed as wildflower verges. An additional 74,000 square metres of wildflower verges takes the total across London to almost 130,000 square metres, equivalent to 18 football pitches. Wildflower verges encourage biodiversity and help wildflowers thrive, which can lead to greater amounts of carbon being stored in the soil, as well as supporting pollinators such as bees and butterflies Three of the new sites identified are in Barnet: A1 Rowley Lane roundabout, A406 Pinkham Way, & A1 Mill Hill Circus.
