Author Talk: Skin Deep with Phillipa McGuinness

Dr Godden joins us to talk about Lucy Osburn, the English nurse trained by Florence Nightingale and sent to Australia in 1868. With five nurses Lucy Odburn established a training school at Sydney Hospital, and during this interesting talk you will learn how Nursing started in Australia and continues today.

Rebuilding the York St Synagogue in 3D

Join 3D computer artist Zac Levi and Curator of the AM Rosenblum Jewish Museum at the The Great Synagogue, Jana Vytrhlik, for a virtual tour of York Street Synagogue. During lockdown Zac Levi got bored, so he decided to rebuild the interior of the Synagogue inside his computer. Consecrated on 2 April 1844, The York Street building served Sydney’s Jewish community for 35 years.

Wombalicorns and the Reimagining of Australian Children's Literature by Rachel Anne Buch
This interactive exhibition recreates the themes and imagery of old children’s books into a new, modern and inclusive series of artworks. By combining elements of the fantastic and ordinary with local elements, the series of characters, settings and objects suggest a magical contemporary Australian fairy tale.
