Kia ora,

The Southern Corridor Improvements project is nearing completion. Please find below the schedule for upcoming motorway night closures for the week commencing Sunday 31 January. Please note that closures may change at any time due to weather.

Traffic notices provide a brief overview of temporary night closures and road layout changes for the coming week.

Sunday 31 January – Saturday 6 February

Tuesday 2 February – Thursday 4 February

  • Full closure of all southbound lanes between Manukau and Takanini from 10pm to 5am. This includes the closure of southbound on-ramps at Redoubt Road, Lambie Drive and SH20-1 Link, and the off-ramps at Hill Road and Takanini, between 9pm and 5am.
  • Partial closure of Great South Road eastbound at Takanini interchange between 9pm and 5am. Motorists will still be able to travel through Great South Road but will experience a lane layout change.
  • Full closure of the Great South Road end of Spartan Road between 9pm and 5am.

Sunday 7 February – Saturday 13 February

Tuesday 9 February – Thursday 11 February

  • Closure of Takanini southbound on-ramp between 9pm and 5am.
  • Closure of Takanini northbound on-ramp and off-ramp between 9pm and 5am.
  • Partial closure of Great South Road westbound at Takanini interchange between 9pm and 5am. Motorists will still be able to travel through Great South Road but will experience a lane layout change.


Looking Ahead

There are no night-time closures scheduled during Auckland Anniversary weekend 30 January – 1 February, or during Waitangi weekend 6-8 February. Weather permitting, night time closures will continue intermittently in February, affecting sections of both northbound and southbound lanes of the Southern Motorway between Manukau and Papakura.
