Santos in the Community Busy month out in the community
Image: Tammie Clark (President Liverpool Plains Business Chamber), Carmen Brown (Santos Community & Stakeholder Adviser), Alistair Hills (Santos Land Access Adviser) and Andrew Snars (Santos Manager Community NSW) at Biz Connect, with Liverpool Plains Business Chamber in March Welcome to the latest edition of the NSW Monthly Activities Update - I hope it finds you in good health and embracing everything our fabulous region has to offer at this time of year. We've spent the majority of March on the roads, meeting with key stakeholders in person to update them on our projects. It has been great to catch up face to face with elected members, Council staff, business chambers and local business owners along the Hunter Gas Pipeline, as well as our Community Consultative Committee members here in Narrabri. A particular highlight was the opportunity to host a Biz Connect session with the Liverpool Plains Business Chamber in Quirindi, which enabled our community and land access experts to engage with fellow Chamber members and regional leaders. It was encouraging to be approached by so many locals who have a genuine interest in Santos and our operations in NSW. There was a lot of discussion about the potential economic benefits that could flow from our projects, so thank you to the members and organisers for a great evening. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank those who submitted an Expression of Interest to join our new Hunter Gas Pipeline (HGP) Community Reference Groups, following our advertising campaign this month. Applications for all three groups are now closed and we are currently assessing the applications. We aim to confirm membership very soon. With a full calendar of events ahead of us, we are making sure we're readily available to provide information about our operations and answer any questions you may have. I hope to see you at these upcoming events, including the Gunnedah and Narrabri Shows. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if there is something we can help you with. Andrew Snars Santos Manager Community NSW Narrabri Gas Project
The Narrabri Gas Project involves the development and production of natural gas near Narrabri in New South Wales. We have approval to drill up to 850 gas wells on 425 well pads and to construct and operate gas processing and water treatment facilities. Santos has committed 100 per cent of Narrabri gas to the east coast domestic market, helping to bring energy security to the region and putting downward pressure on gas and electricity prices for homes, manufacturers and businesses. If you would like more information about this project, please contact our team via email at Energy.NSW@santos.com or give us a call on (02) 6790 9235. You can also visit the NGP website.

Hunter Gas Pipeline and Narrabri Lateral Pipeline
Santos is proposing to deliver natural gas from Narrabri to the east coast domestic market via two new underground pipelines - the Hunter Gas Pipeline and the Narrabri Lateral Pipeline. Survey activities are currently underway on private and public land as Santos works to confirm the pipeline route. Learn more about these projects on our website. Hunter Gas Pipeline
Landholder information: pipeline easements explained
If you're a landholder who will host the pipeline on your property, this section of our monthly update addresses common questions and clarifies misconceptions about how easements work. Myth: There is a common misconception that landholders will not be able to crop or graze stock over the pipeline. Fact: Most normal agricultural activities including grazing, dryland cropping and irrigation can continue. Most crops along the HGP route are annual and perennial crops with soft, fibrous roots (e.g. cereals, lucerne, legumes, grasses, cotton). Their shallow or flexible root systems pose minimal risks and can be grown near and over the pipeline. Santos has produced a factsheet which addresses some of the common myths surrounding the Hunter Gas Pipeline - click the link below to find out more. Community Consultation Community Consultative Committee and advisory groups The latest Narrabri Gas Project Community Consultative Committee (CCC) meeting was held on Tuesday 17 March 2026. Minutes from previous CCC meetings are available here. The next Aboriginal and Cultural Heritage, Biodiversity, Greenhouse Gas and Water Advisory Group meetings for 2026 are to be scheduled. Previous minutes from the advisory group meetings can be accessed here. Community PartnershipsSantos embraces 'Carp Muster' fishing comp with donation
Image: Anglers of all ages took part in Narrabri's18th Annual Carp Muster in early March Narrabri locals and visitors were out in force for the '2026 Carp Muster' fishing competition, earlier this month. Santos was proud to show our support for the community-led initiative with a donation of hats, water bottles and footies. Now in its 18th year, the highly popular event aims to remove destructive introduced carp from local waterways to help improve river habitats and restore native fish populations. The Carp Muster is organised by Narrabri Amateur Fishing Club with support from the Namoi Catchment Management Authority and NSW Department of Primary Industries. Santos is proud to support this fantastic initiative as part of our commitment to creating a positive impact in the communities where we operate. |
