Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident and Family Members,

COVID-19 Update for Residents and Families of Calvary Ryde

I am writing to inform you that unfortunately one (1) additional case of COVID-19 has been detected amongst Calvary Ryde residents in the latest round of testing. This brings the total number of COVID positive residents at Calvary Ryde to seven (7). We are keeping families of the COVID positive residents informed directly.

In line with advice from the Public Health Unit, another round of testing will occur on 16 February, and we will update you with the results once we receive them towards the end of the week.

We will continue to liaise closely with Public Health Unit officials, who will make the decision about whether and when it is safe to remove the current restrictions. In the meantime, Level 1 remains closed to visitors. Level 1 residents will remain, and be cared for in their rooms.

Apart from Level 1, Calvary Ryde remains open to visitors subject to the guidelines below.

Updated information for visitors during an outbreak

  • Consistent with Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care one fully vaccinated visitor (Partner in Care), per resident, will be permitted entry to the home from 11.00am – 6.00pm daily.
  • All visitors will be supplied with the appropriate PPE (including face masks and shields as required) to wear whilst visiting. Staff will assist you if needed.
  • Visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

We will keep you updated as information becomes available, and anticipate our next communication to you will be at the end of the week.

Thank you for working with us so generously to ensure the safety of all residents in our care.

Sincerely,

Amanda Bennett,

General Manager Aged Care Sydney
