What are tPHINS?

PHINS (Peers Helping Incoming New Students) are New Student Orientation leaders who are trained to aid incoming transfer students with their academic, cultural, and social adjustment to life at Penn. This interaction primarily occurs during Quaker Days and NSO.

Transfer NSO is one of Penn's most beloved facets of NSO, full of fun events such as dessert nights, scavenger hunts, waffles, and more!

Members of PHINS are introduced to and work closely with faculty, staff, administrators, and most importantly, peers. The PHINS experience allows students to learn more about themselves and Penn along with the opportunity to make many lasting friendships with both new students and other PHINS.

What are the benefits?

  • Free early move-in (August 23, 2020)
  • Free PHINS merch (including t-shirts, powerbanks, water bottles, sunglasses, etc.)
  • Free meals during NSO
  • Para-professional experience supporting a crucial University program
  • Leadership opportunities & more!

Important Information
Selected PHINS are required to attend a training on Sunday, March 29, 2020. More information will be emailed out to applicants prior to this date.
