SH1 East Taupō Arterial southbound ramp closures
Starting this weekend, the southbound on and off ramps at the Centennial Drive intersection of the East Taupo Arterial (ETA) will be closed for repair. Cracks are starting to appear in the road surface and the road needs to be reconstructed or these will continue to get worse over time.
The Centennial Drive northbound on/off ramps will remain open and are unaffected by the closure.
The Broadlands Road southbound ramps also need to be closed for similar repairs, and to minimise disruption we will do this after the work at Centennial Drive is complete.
We'll start work at the Centennial Drive intersection from 6pm Sunday 13 September and expect to finish by 5pm Friday 25 September. If bad weather is forecast, work will be delayed and will start the following weekend, 6pm Sunday 20 September.
For the duration of the work, detours will be in place and clearly sign posted. The detour will add approximately 3-4 minutes to a journey. Refer to detour map below.
The Broadlands Road southbound on/off ramp closures are expected to start in early October and we will confirm this closer to the time.
It’s inevitable that people will be inconvenienced in some way during this work. Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency apologises for any inconvenience and advises motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.
