Congratulations to all of those winners and nominees of the NZTV Awards. It was a great night and clear evidence of the value and impact of Te Puna Kairangi (the Premium Fund). It was also a great night for Te Māngai Pāho with content and programmes we had contributed funding to succeeding in a record number of categories across the evening. It was also comforting to witness the overwhelming support of the entire sector for te reo Māori and te ao Māori.

We would also like to thank all of those who attended and contributed to a very successful Māori news and current affairs discussion. It was inspiring to witness the commitment of our sector to addressing the challenges we have in a collaborative ‘what is best for te reo Māori’ approach.

For some time now, Te Māngai Pāho has been focused on trying to ensure we do the best we can with the limited resources we have. Now more than ever, that is important for all of us. As you are all aware we have been operating with reduced capacity as a result of some recent resignations. The good news is that we have almost completed a careful review of our operation and will be looking to have a full complement of Kaimahi early in the new calendar year.

Early in the new calendar year we will also be engaging with the sector to explain some proposed adjustments to our funding programmes and in particular an enhanced approach to both the assessment and monitoring of funding initiatives. Please watch for opportunities to contribute to those conversations.

Ko te tūmanako, kia haumaru ai te harikoa o te wā kei mua i a tātou. Tēnā e hika ma, ngā mihi o te wā Kirihimete me te tau hou Pākehā hoki. Kia tau te mauri!
