FCC to Hold Open Commission Meeting On Thursday, September 22, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released a notice of its Thursday, September 29 open meeting. At the meeting, the Commission will, among other things, consider a report and order to improve the clarity and accessibility of Emergency Alert System (EAS) virtual messages to the public. NTIA Holds Spectrum Policy Symposium On Monday, September 19, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) held its fifth annual Spectrum Policy Symposium, which highlighted the “whole-government effort” to develop a national spectrum strategy. Keynote speakers from the Biden administration included NTIA Administrator Alan Davidson, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel. NTIA Proposes Limited ‘Buy America’ Broadband Waiver On Monday, September 19, the NTIA released a Notice and Request for Comments on a limited applicability nonavailability waiver of the Buy America domestic content procurement preference as applied to recipients of Middle Mile Grant Program awards. The proposed waiver comes after an NTIA assessment determined that there would be a “particularly significant” effect on the Middle Mile grant program without allowing such waivers.
