There will be no planned construction closures in place over Matariki weekend. Road closures paused today at 12pm and will resume on Monday 23 June as scheduled. Daytime construction closures will resume on Monday 23 June at the following locations. Please refer to each area's section for further information. Kenepuru:

Three new road closures are scheduled to begin in the coming weeks on Queen Charlotte Drive, Port Underwood Road and Te Hoiere Road. Please refer to the new road closures section below for more information. Works will be undertaken on Awatere Valley Road, 2km up the valley from the Jordan Bridge under stop/go next week. There are multiple sites under construction on Croisilles Road and Croisilles-French Pass Road at Goat Hill and either side of Okiwi Bay. Please plan ahead for multiple delays of up to 15 minutes at each site. On Queen Charlotte Drive there are multiple construction sites between Momorangi Bay and Whenuanui (Becks) Bay. There are no planned construction closures in place over Matariki weekend. Road closures paused today at 12pm and will resume on Monday 23 June as scheduled. --------------------------------------------------- Queen Charlotte Drive Queen Charlotte Drive above Whenuanui (Becks) Bay will be closed to all traffic, from Monday 30 June until Friday 4 July from 8am to 5pm with openings on the hour, every hour to allow the line of traffic to clear. --------------------------------------------------- Port Underwood Road Port Underwood Road on the Waikawa side of Whatamango Bay will be closed to all traffic from Monday 23 June until mid-August from 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm. --------------------------------------------------- Te Hoiere Road - Pelorus Daytime construction closures are in place on Te Hoiere Road, Pelorus until early July. The closures are in place 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday. --------------------------------------------------- To view the closure locations, please visit the CDEM map. Outside of the closure days and times, works will be carried out under stop/go traffic management with up to 10 minute delays. French Pass |

Construction is now complete on Croisilles-French Pass Road, 1.5km before the Elaine Bay Road intersection. Sealing was completed this week at the new road retreat site. The road retreat on Croisilles Road near Goat Hill, prior to Okiwi Bay is nearly complete. Sealing at this site is scheduled for Monday 23 June (weather dependent) and minor finishing works will be undertaken as weather conditions allow. Work to fill a gully site at the start of Croisillies-French Pass Road, just outside Okiwi Bay continues this week with a culvert and new headwall installed as the site is backfilled in sections. Work for a road retreat on Croisillies Road approximately 2km before Okiwi Bay, has begun with the material being carted to the gully fill site (mentioned above). Expect a higher volume of truck movements between these sites. Both of the above sites will be under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 10 minutes. Minor works are underway on Bulwer, Te Towaka-Port Ligar and Croisilles-French Pass Road under stop/go traffic management. |

Kenepuru Road |

Daytime construction closures are in place on Kenepuru Road at Portage Heights and Island Point. The road closure at Portage Heights is located from Portage Resort for approximately 1km towards the Heads. Anchor installation and back filling of the first retaining wall is continuing at this site. Closures are in place at the following times:
The Island Point road closure is located from Onahau Road to Tara Bay. Construction of the second retaining wall is nearing completion. Establishment of a third wall is planned to begin next week. Closures are in place at the following times:
Outside of the closures, works will be carried out under stop/go traffic management with up to 15 minute delays. Road users wanting to travel through both road closures at Island Point and Portage Heights during the lunch time opening will need to be at their nearest closure point between 12pm and 12.30pm. Recovery crews will ensure vehicles can pass through all sites without getting stuck between the closure points. Works will be undertaken just beyond the Onahau Road intersection on Kenepuru Road on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 June under stop/go traffic management. Please expect delays of up to 5 minutes. Stormwater improvements are now complete on Akerbloms Road, Punga Cove. Concrete kerb and site rail installation was completed this week. Minor works and culvert installation continues past Kenepuru Heads, under stop/go traffic management. Please expect minor delays. From Monday 23 June until late-August, multiple culvert installations will be undertaken on Titirangi Road under resident access only. Residents should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Temporary traffic lights remain in place at Portage Heights and approximately 500m beyond Nikau Cove (when travelling from Portage). Both sites have a 30km temporary speed limit in place. Please expect minor delays and follow all traffic management signage. |

This week the crew have established on Te Hoiere Road, Pelorus for drainage improvements and road reinstatement. Works are being completed under daytime construction closures until early July. The closures will be in place from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday. |

Work continued on multiple sites this week on Queen Charlotte Drive between Momorangi and Shakespeare Bay. Progress continues at the road retreat above Governors Bay. Pavement preparation is underway in the south bound lane. Once complete, the crew will begin work in the north bound lane. Pavement sealing at this site will be completed when weather allows. 24/7 stop/go traffic management is in place at this site. Drainage improvements are complete above Whenuanui (Becks) Bay. Pavement preparation is underway for sealing at this site when weather allows. A retaining wall is under construction after Whenuanui (Becks) Bay when travelling from Picton. Excavation for the new wall and drainage works are complete, and construction of the wall has begun. A second retaining wall 100m along the road has also commenced this week. Please plan ahead for delays of up to 15 minutes at each of these sites. |

Construction continues on Tennyson Inlet Road, approximately 1.5km before the Opouri Saddle for the construction of two retaining walls. Timber lagging has been installed and the first wall backfilled, with the crew now installing anchors. These works are being completed under daytime construction closures, due to weather delays and an increased scope of works these closures are scheduled to finish mid-July. Closures are currently in place Monday to Friday from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm. From Monday 30 June, two openings will be added at 10am and 2pm. Vehicles must be waiting at the closure point at these times to guarantee access through site. |

Kenepuru Road is open to the public, with overweight and overlength vehicle restrictions in place. Reduced speed limit signage and temporary traffic lights are in place at Portage Heights and approximately 500m beyond Nikau Cove (when travelling from Portage). Both sites have a 30km temporary speed limit in place. Please expect minor delays and follow all traffic management signage. Vehicle restrictions remain on Kenepuru Road from Linkwater to the Heads as follows: Vehicle RestrictionsVehicles up to 12.6m in length, and 6 tonne in weight can travel on Kenepuru Road and side roads. To apply for a permit for an over dimension vehicle to travel on Kenepuru Road, email recovery@marlboroughroads.com or call 0800 213 213. There are the following hazards on this section of Kenepuru Road and its side roads including Moetapu Bay Road:
Other recovery roadsPlease be aware that on all roads, works may be in progress and/or traffic management in place. Please expect delays and follow all signage and traffic management.
