Hello Quakers!

NSO continues today in full force, featuring your Class Photo, NSO Speakeasy, and the final night of the Late Night Activities Fair! Please note that, due to the weather, the Penn Athletics Picnic location has changed. Additionally, PVP circles will now be meeting at their assigned locations, not Penn Commons. 

For today’s weather, we are expecting scattered afternoon thunderstorms and a high of 82 degrees.

PHINS Orientation Group Look-Up
If you are unsure of what group you are in, please visit the online PHINS Orientation Group Look-Up. This site provides information on your PHINS Orientation Group and mandatory meeting times and locations throughout NSO.

Masks & PennOpen Pass Daily Symptom Checks
Please wear a mask at all orientation events. Additionally, all students are now required to complete PennOpen Pass daily symptom checks. You may be asked to show a Green Pass at orientation events, so fill out your daily symptom check here.

Events marked [M] are mandatory. Please note that failure to attend mandatory events where attendance is taken, could result in a hold being placed on your spring 2022 registration.

Brunch

Various Locations | 10am-2pm

Wristbands are required to enter dining halls.

Hill, Kings Court English, Lauder, and 1920 Commons dining cafes. Kosher dining available at Hillel, 11am-2pm.

[M] PHINS Orientation Group Meeting & PVP Circles

Various Locations | 10am-4pm 

Meet with your PHINS Orientation Group at your assigned location (check your location here) for Penn Violence Prevention (PVP) Circles. PVP Circles build community, share resources, & normalize conversations on supporting individuals who have experienced interpersonal violence.

Groups 1-30 meet from 10am-11:30am, Groups 31-60 meet from 11:30am-1pm, Groups 61-90 meet from 1pm-2:30pm, and Groups 91-120 meet from 2:30pm-4pm.

Penn Commons & Franklin Field | 4pm-7pm

The Penn Athletics Picnic is your sole dining option for this evening; all dining cafes will be closed. Kosher options available.

4pm-5:30pm: Grab & Go Food on Penn Commons (NSO Wristband must be worn to gain entry)

Enter tent by Cohen Hall and eat in Houston Market (lower level of Houston Hall)

5:30pm-7pm: Class Photos & T-Shirts at Franklin Field

Enter Franklin Field through gates located at 33rd & South streets or between Weightman Hall and Dunning Coaches Center. See map below.

NSO Speakeasy

Kelly Writers House Garden | 9pm-11pm

This open mic night features performances by the incoming class. Bring your poetry, your guitar, or your award winning essay and share your talents with your classmates. Or just come to hang out, listen, and check out the Writers House.

Late Night Activities Fair

Houston Hall​ | 11pm-1am

Meet various student organization reps and participate in a late night party with food and activities.

Accessing Your Group Number & PRP Meeting Location

Follow these easy steps to access your orientation group number and find all locations for mandatory group activities! Attendance will be taken when you meet up with your PHINS leaders. Failure to attend these events will result in a hold on your registration. 

1. Go to https://www.nso.upenn.edu/phins-lookup

2. Login with your PennKey

3. Find your PennID Number under your picture on PennInTouch

4. Enter your PennID Number at the bottom of the page to view your group information

TAP Phase Two is Live!

TAP Phase Two is officially live! In this Canvas module, you will find new information on the following:

• Welcome to Penn's Campus 
• New Student Orientation (NSO) Expectations & Mandatory Events
• PRP Prep Session & FAQ
• Speak About It

You will not be required to complete a quiz during this phase of TAP. However, this content must be reviewed prior to your mandatory in-person PHINS Orientation Group Meet-Ups and NSO programming where attendance will be taken. Failure to attend these small group activities could result in a registration hold being placed on your student record.

COVID-19 Reminders

Upon arrival to campus, all students must be tested once for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. Click here to register for your gateway COVID-19 test.

Please remember to wear a mask and have a green PennOpenPass at all orientation events.
