Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident or Family Member,

Resident restrictions eased at Calvary St Martin de Porres

We are pleased to advise that in consultation with the Hunter New England Public Health Unit, we have been able to ease restrictions on almost all of our residents at Calvary St Martin de Porres.

This follows recent negative COVID-19 test results for all except four (4) residents who tested positive initially. These residents will continue to receive all care in their rooms.

What does this mean for residents and families?

Residents are now able to leave their rooms and to move about their own household wing.

For the moment, residents must remain within their own wing and cannot yet visit other households. Any communal activities will be within this limitation and be done in a COVID-safe manner.

Our staff will continue to wear N95 masks and shields, and will continue to monitor all residents for any symptoms of COVID-19.

Next steps

Although restrictions on residents’ movement have been lifted, Calvary St Martin de Porres will remain closed for general visitation until the public health unit deems it safe to reopen. Exceptions can be made for residents receiving end of life care, or who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the manager of your home to discuss arrangements.

We are continuing to liaise with the public health unit and will update you again as soon as any information becomes available. We anticipate our next update to residents and families will be later this week, unless there are any changes to be communicated before then.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Bryan McLoughlinRegional CEO – NSW & QLD
