Focus looks ahead to 2023
|
|
|
As we welcome 2023, we put behind us the turmoil of 2022, which was punctuated by extreme highs and lows including the Platinum Jubilee and the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Focus was privileged to witness the Queen open several of our company-defining projects and recognise many will keenly feel the loss; we therefore hope for both a brighter 2023 and to have the honour of seeing His Majesty King Charles III continue in similar Royal duties.
This year will not be without its own challenges: the cost-of-living crisis, economic black holes, skills shortages, ongoing war in Ukraine and impacts of climate change continue to put pressure on an economy still recovering from the COVID pandemic. At Focus, therefore, although we hope for a positive year, we continue to plan for its trials too.
Our aim is to continue to secure major commissions such as the Nature + Love project with Horniman Museum and Gardens and other heritage and culture projects in our core services. Investment in our Business Planning team will continue to be complemented by our Strategic Advice and Funding Application support service. These provide a unique set of combined skills within our teams to take clients’ visions to the next stage.
Established over 20 years, our Sustainability and Compliance services continue to grow – helping to educate and support the industry as it gets to grips with the new Approved Documents F, L and O. We expect the support we provide on Net Zero Carbon strategies, Energy Efficiency analysis, and Embodied Carbon to continue alongside our ability to deliver complex and ground-breaking Retrofit projects.
No one can deny the uncertainties ahead this year; but whilst we are not complacent, we prefer to focus on the opportunities that change can bring - remaining confident in our ability to understand the sectors in which we work, listen to our clients’ needs and match their expectations to maintain the highest level of service.
We wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

To help both potential and existing clients easily navigate this, at times daunting, topic, the team have created a new hub in which to identify our carbon focused services in one place.

And Finally…….with the lockdowns over, 2022 has seen a resurgence of company social activities from a belated Christmas Meal in April and a Company Walk in September to many fundraising initiatives and team outings dotted throughout the year. It has been important for staff morale to make new friends, rekindle old friendships, welcome and train new starters and finally develop the cross-team partnerships that are key to our successful multi-disciplinary offering.
