If your congregation has not yet submitted its Child Safety Plan, or, if you have no children in regular attendance, if you have not yet submitted a child safety assurance, you now only have two weeks to do this. The Child Safety Plan or child safety assurance, are due by 31 March 2023. This is a high priority for the Church and it is not optional. It will help the Church to keep our children safe, and to meet its legal, synodical, and ethical obligations relating to their safety and care. If you need any assistance, there are many resources to help you. Please visit www.lca.org.au/css where you will find everything you need: guidelines, templates, videos, Frequently Asked Questions, tips for Assessors, and more. In addition, you are welcome to contact either your District Professional Standards Officer or the Child Safety Standards team for further advice. The Commissioner has issued legal notices to Google (including YouTube), Twitter, TikTok, Twitch and Discord, to determine how each provider is complying with the Government’s Basic Online Safety Expectations in relation to child sexual exploitation and abuse.
