Fun, Food, Family & Resources: Spring Festival 2026A community united, folklórico dancing, face painting, family fun, and delicious food—our 2026 Spring Festival brought the true spirit of our organization to life!
An essential part of the event was the incredible network of partners who showed up for our community. They brought a range of valuable resources and opportunities for our families:
Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us and to every partner who helped make the day so meaningful. Amazing IHDF Volunteers!Volunteers are at the heart of the work of IHDF. April was Global Volunteer Month so we put together a short, fun video as part of our efforts to honor and appreciate our dedicated volunteers. If you are a current or past volunteer, please know that you have our gratitude and respect! Rallying Community:Looking Back on Six Months of Friday Dinners
Sometimes, the hardest challenges bring out our best. When last fall's government shutdown disrupted access to much needed resources, our community, staff and partner organizations rallied together in above-and-beyond sorts of ways. Since November, we've had the privilege of distributing weekly hot meals to many families, bolstering food security during a critical time. As we conclude Friday Dinners next month, we’re proud of the community built through care and adaptability. Originally designed as an on-site gathering opportunity, we listened to feedback when travel became a barrier. By shifting to meal deliveries closer to where our families live, we were able to connect with many more families. Our commitment to students' overall well-being and to a two-generation approach drove this temporary support initiative during a time of crisis. We were happy to find strategies that worked best for our Dreamer Scholars, caregivers and their families.
Thank you to the families and partners whose trust, flexibility, and engagement made this all possible when it mattered most! Connecting Our Alumni CommunityWe are thrilled to share that IHDF staff member Tina Nguyen is taking on new responsibilities within the organization that include an expansion of engagement with our Dreamer Alumni community. Connection and community are central to the experience of IHDF Scholars and families. As a key part of our efforts to strengthen community for the long-term, Tina will spearhead efforts to create additional pathways for alumni involvement. Alongside this vital community-building work, she will continue overseeing our work-study, internship, and AmeriCorps programs, ensuring that both AmeriCorps and Dreamer Alumni have ongoing opportunities to stay connected and contribute.
