Posted by Prof. Thomson. 10/20 Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group Scholarship! The Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group Scholarship is open right now. P2 and P3 students can apply. The amount is $3,000 and it requires a 500 word essay about working in independent pharmacy or underserved areas. Visit HERE for more info! 10/20 Student Travel Update! Because of the generosity of our alumni and friends, the reimbursement amount to travel to national meetings is increased for this year to $350 ($500 if presenting). Make sure you go to the PCP Google site and review the travel guidelines. Within the guidelines is another link to request permission to travel. Do that BEFORE you make arrangements. We don't confirm receipt of the request. As long as you fill out the form and follow the rules, you will get reimbursed after the travel. There is also support for printing posters. Come join APhA this Saturday, November 5th (10am-4pm) at Haddon Heights, NJ! We will having trifolds to educate the local community about the profession of pharmacy. No prior knowledge is needed. Join APhA-ASP on Thursday October 27 at 1 pm on IPEX 3rd floor for our annual Rite-Aid Welcome Back Picnic! The ribbon cutting on the newly refurbished Rite Aid Pharmacy will begin at 1:15pm and the Rite Aid Executives will be around till 3pm to talk to any interested students. There will be plenty of free food, raffle prizes, and networking opportunities. Pizza and salad too! The USPHS Commissioned Corps offers rewarding careers for public health professionals and service-driven individuals who are passionate about promoting and protecting our nation’s health. On Monday, October 24th at 5:30 PM, Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Domenic D’Alessandro (PCP '2012) will present opportunities for pharmacists in the PHS. LCDR D'Alessandro learned about the USPHS during his last year of PCP and is excited to spread the message about “this best kept secret.” PHS pharmacist officers can work at a number of different federal agencies, that will be discussed during LCDR D’Alessandro’s presentation. He will also explain the benefits of serving in the USPHS, his deployment experiences, his professional experience in both Agencies, and how to apply to the USPHS. We are excited to announce that we will be having two on campus flu clinics this year. Our flu clinics will take place on Friday 11/4 on UCity campus, and Friday 11/11 on Hawk Hill campus from 8am-12:30pm. We are looking for P2 & P3 students to help with immunizing, and undergraduate students to help with directing patients, paperwork, etc. This opportunity is open to all pharmacy students, regardless of your year. If you believe that you are eligible to graduate in Fall 2022 you must submit an Application to Graduate. All students must complete the online application to initiate the graduation review process. You must apply to graduate even if you do not plan on attending the Commencement ceremony. If you have any questions about your degree audit and/or where you stand with the completion of your requirements, please contact Steven Dominguez, at sdominguez@sju.edu. If you joined our program as a transfer student in the P1 year and would like to recruit other students to follow in your footsteps, we need YOU! We are once again recruiting for Graduate Ambassadors (Hawk Hosts) for our chats, interviews, open houses and other events. This is a PAID position and is a great way to get involved with the university and to promote the pharmacy program! Even if you were an Ambassador previously, you will need to reapply. The application can be found HERE via Handshake. If you do not already have a Handshake account, you will need to create one to apply. We are hoping to have some Graduate Ambassadors in place by the Open House event on November 3rd, so please apply by EOB Friday, October 28 if possible! Let's see who's putting together great outfits when it comes to styling their white coat. APhA-ASP is proud to continue our tradition of hosting hAPPE hour in conjunction with Rho Chi, PLS, DIA and IPhO! This is an event where you can get the time to ask questions about APPEs of interest, connect with preceptors for future endeavors, and just build your network overall. This year, we have a variety of preceptors representing ambulatory care, pharmacy law, community pharmacy, medical information, patient safety, retail, and many more!
