Parents Newsletter - March 2025With winter break over, it’s time to start thinking about final projects and preparing for exams. It’s completely normal to feel stressed during this time, so if that is your student’s experience, they are not alone. Please encourage them to use the many resources available at Carleton and in the community. Many students begin finalizing their summer plans at this time of year. The summer course schedule is available for students to catch up or get ahead, while the Career Services Job Board on mySuccess offers opportunities for students to get valuable employment experience. Important Dates and Deadlines Saturday, March 15, 2025: Last day for academic withdrawal from full winter, late winter and fall/winter courses. Thursday, March 20, 2025: Registration for summer term courses opens for Carleton University degree students. Tuesday, April 1, 2025: Last day to apply to graduate in June. International Women's Day Carleton University is celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) on Saturday, March 8, 2025, honouring the amazing contributions and accomplishments of the women in our community. IWD is an excellent time to reflect on and strive to end gender-based discrimination, both in Ottawa and beyond.
Exam Schedule Now Available The winter 2025 final exam schedule is now available. Students can find the schedule on the Scheduling and Examination Services website, through their Carleton360 account (log in through the Current Students website) or on the Carleton Mobile app. The final exam period is Friday, April 11 to Saturday, April 26, 2025. Exams are not scheduled Friday, April 18; Saturday, April 19 or Sunday, April 20, 2025. Exams resume as scheduled on Monday, April 21, 2025 (Easter Monday). Tax Forms The Tuition and Education Certificate or T2202 is available to each student through Carleton Central. Students can request a T2202 on the web and print out the document. The printed copy meets all requirements from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). T2202s are not mailed out to students. More information on important documents is available on the Carleton Parents website. International Internship Program Is your student thinking about opportunities abroad? They have a chance to participate in the International Internship Program! These internships offer the chance for students to gain real-world work experience, develop international contacts and build their resume, all while earning academic credit. Applications for summer 2025 (in-person and virtual) internships are open until Monday, March 17, 2025.
Student EDI Research Award Applications Open Applications for the Student Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Research Awards are open until Friday, March 21, 2025. The recipient will have the opportunity to engage in faculty-supervised research projects that use EDI-informed considerations while reflecting upon diversity and identities. The award is valued at $10,000 for a four-month project term this summer. Graduation/Spring Convocation If your student will complete their program requirements this term, they must apply to graduate in Carleton Central (log into Carleton360 via the Current Students website) by Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Spot and Avoid Phishing Emails Students should be on the lookout for phishing messages in their email inbox. The Information Technology Services (ITS) team has shared some helpful phishing email warning signs and information on what actions to take when they spot a fraudulent email. Too Good to Be True? How to Spot a Fraudulent Job Posting or Recruitment Effort Is this a job scam? Is it too good to be true? The answer in most cases is yes. If someone wants to hire your student right away and send them money for doing nothing, then it's a scam. Share these 10 warning signs with your student to help protect them from fraudulent practices when job hunting.
Feedback on the Draft Coordinated Accessibility Strategy After consulting with the Carleton community through the fall, a draft of Carleton’s renewed Coordinated Accessibility Strategy is now available. Students are encouraged to review the draft strategy and provide feedback by Friday, March 7, 2025. Ancillary Fee Referenda The 2025 writ of election for ancillary fee referenda has been issued. The Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) is proposing an increase of $22.68 per term to the student levy fee to maintain current services and programming levels for undergraduate students. The School of Industrial Design is proposing a $35 increase to the existing technology fee (total of $130/annually) for Industrial Design students to support technology costs. Your student can vote by online ballot through their cMail or the Carleton Mobile app on Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Virtual Drop-Ins and Specialized Sessions at How to… From 10 to 2 The Centre for Student Academic Support's (CSAS) "How to... from 10 to 2" drop-in sessions are now available both in-person and virtually! Students can visit CSAS in-person at 402 MacOdrum Library or access the sessions virtually Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CSAS is also providing specialized How to… From 10 to 2 sessions leading up to final exams.
