Traffic impact report

Intended programme: week commencing 30 June 2024

People travelling between Baypark and Bayfair will continue to see several overnight road and lane closures, and associated detours. Closures and detours will vary night to night, depending on site requirements and progress, and people are asked to allow extra time, follow signposted detours and drive with caution through the project site.

In the week commencing Sunday 7 July, various overnight road and/or lane closures will be required for final line marking.

Night closures and detours:

  • Sunday 7 July, from approximately 7pm or later to 5am: Maunganui Road southbound (from Bayfair roundabout to SH2/SH29A Te Maunga interchange). Detour: From Bayfair roundabout, detour via Girven Road, Korowai Street, Seaspray Drive, Maranui Street, Sandhurst Drive and Sandhurst interchange. (Note: this route includes the detour for Tauranga City Council’s works at the Oceanbeach Road, Maranui Street and Girven Road intersection)
  • Monday 8 July, from approximately 7pm or later to 5am: SH2/Bayfair flyover northbound (from Sandhurst interchange to Concord Avenue). Detour: From SH2/Tauranga Eastern Link, detour via Sandhurst interchange, Mangatawa Link Road, Truman Lane, SH29A roundabout, SH2/SH29A Te Maunga interchange and Maunganui Road northbound.
  • Monday 8 July, from approximately 7pm or later to 5am: Maunganui Road southbound (from Concord Avenue to Bayfair roundabout). Access to Bayfair Shopping Centre will be via Concord Avenue and Farm Street. Detour: From Mount Maunganui or city centre, detour via Concord Avenue, Paterson Street and Girven Road. (Note: this route includes the detour for Tauranga City Council’s works at the Oceanbeach Road, Maranui Street and Girven Road intersection).
  • Tuesday 9 July, from approximately 7pm or later to 5am: SH29A between SH29A roundabout and SH2/SH29A Te Maunga interchange, and Maunganui Road northbound (from SH2/SH29A Te Maunga interchange to Bayfair roundabout). Detours: From SH29A, detour via Truman Lane, Mangatawa Link Road, Sandhurst interchange, SH2/Bayfair flyover, Golf Road roundabout and Maunganui Road southbound. From SH2/Tauranga Eastern Link, detour via SH2/Bayfair flyover, Golf Road roundabout and Maunganui Road southbound.
  • Wednesday 10 July, from approximately 7pm or later to 5am: Tauranga Eastern Link onramp (from SH2/SH29A Te Maunga interchange). Detour: From Maunganui Rd southbound or SH29A, detour via SH29A RAB, Truman Lane, Mangatawa Link Rd and Sandhurst interchange.
  • Wednesday 10 July, from approximately 7pm or later to 5am: SH2/Bayfair flyover southbound (from Concord Avenue to SH2/SH29A Te Maunga interchange). Detour: From Mount Maunganui or city centre, detour via Maunganui Road southbound, SH2/SH29A Te Maunga interchange, SH29A RAB, Truman Lane, Mangatawa Link Rd and Sandhurst interchange.
  • Thursday 11 July, from approximately 7pm or later to 5am: Lane closures will apply around Bayfair roundabout and on Matapihi Road, Owens Place and Girven Road.

In the coming weeks, daytime lane closures during off-peak hours will be required across the project site for surface inspections.
