We continue to listen to your feedback and adjust the payment model to address your concerns. To submit questions or feedback, please email FP.Billing@doctorsofbc.ca. In this newsletter, we are providing information on the following:
Please note that the Doctors of BC website will be unavailable from the evening of February 7 until the morning of February 10 while work is done to improve the website experience. Online claim forms and resources on the Doctors of BC website will not be available during this time. Updated LFP Payment Schedule – effective February 4, 2025A new payment schedule has been released effective February 4, 2025. The payment schedule includes these updates:
We recommend reviewing the updated LFP Payment Schedule in its entirety to ensure that you are billing accurately. BC Family Doctors’ web resources, including the Simplified LFP Guide and Billing Question Library, are being updated to reflect all of the changes in the payment schedule. LFP physicians and locums: March 31 deadline to re-enrol for 2025All physicians enrolled in the LFP Payment Model need to re-enrol each year to continue billing under this model. If you do not submit an enrolment code by March 31, 2025, you will not receive any payments under the LFP Payment Model until it is submitted. Step 1: Re-enrol in the LFP Payment Model
Step 2: Indicate the settings in which you intend to bill LFP In addition, all LFP physicians and locums must submit registration codes that identify the settings in which they will be billing under the LFP Payment Model in 2025.
Step 3: Submit portal code to be able to access FPSC-created fee codes for Excluded Services We recommend the submission of the Community Longitudinal Family Physician (CLFP) Portal Code (14070) or Locum CLFP Portal code (14071), which provides access to FPSC-created fee-for-service codes when providing services that are excluded from the LFP Payment Model, such as:
Reminder: You cannot bill fee-for-service and FPSC-created codes for services that are included in the LFP Payment Model. Full details on how to submit 14070 and 14071 are contained in the Simplified Fee Guide, including the correct PHN and ICD-9 (It’s a different PHN and “patient” info than the LFP codes.) More details about the steps for re-enrolment are available on the BC Family Doctors website. Reminder to submit your 2025 LFP Panel Payment claim formEligible physicians enrolled in the LFP Payment Model must submit an online claim form once per calendar year to claim the panel payment installments for the calendar year. If you have already submitted your 2025 claim form, you do not need to submit the claim form again. On January 27, 2025, instructions for claiming the 2025 panel payment were emailed to individual physicians from FP.Billing@doctorsofbc.ca under the subject line “Action Required—Claiming your panel payment in 2025." If applicable, eligible physicians must accurately complete the temporary leave section in their 2025 LFP Panel Payment claim form, as data from 2024 submissions is not transferred. This ensures accurate calculations for the 2025 panel payment installments and prevents delays. The fourth quarter installment for 2024 will be paid on February 28, 2025. If you enrolled in the LFP Payment Model in 2024, were eligible to receive panel payments, but did not submit the 2024 Panel Payment claim form, please contact FP.Billing@doctorsofbc.ca. The submission of the 2025 LFP Panel Payment claim form will be used solely for processing 2025 Panel Payments. Detailed FAQs about panel payments can be found in the BC Family Doctors Billing Question Library (login required). Billing tipsThere are new LFP Payment Model checklists and resources for physicians enrolling or withdrawing from the LFP Payment Model, as well as checklists for physicians transitioning between practicing as an LFP and LFP Locum available on the Doctors of BC website. Here are some other billing tips you may find useful: Time Codes - must use ICD-9 L23 Billing time codes with the incorrect ICD-9 code is a common billing error seen by MSP/HIBC. To avoid rejections, you must use ICD-9 code L23 when billing any time codes for clinic or facility-based care. Time codes with any other ICD-9 codes will be rejected. These rejected claims will appear on your daily rejection report with explanatory code “BI - Fee item and diagnosis do not correspond.” You will need to resubmit these claims with the correct ICD-9 code L23 to receive payment. The CLFP Portal Code (14070) can support LFP physicians when billing for care that is not payable under the LFP Payment Model (i.e. Excluded Services).
