The SH76 Christchurch Southern Motorway detour

Overnight finishing work on Christchurch Southern Motorway

From Sunday 24 July, for 4 nights the Christchurch Southern Motorway will be closed - two nights in each direction, starting with the northbound lanes. This work will happen between 8pm and 6am, with detours and road closures signposted. The motorway will be fully open during the day.

This work is being done at night to avoid creating significant congestion. This is better for traffic flows. However, as this work involves milling, sealing and paving, it will be noisy for those living nearby. We are mindful that night work is not ideal, and we apologise for disturbing you.

This work is weather dependent, so dates may change.

Please take extra care driving in this area and we suggest you allow a little more travel time – we estimate between 5-10 minutes.
