Welcome to the first Way Forward eNews!

We are now only a year away from General Convention of Synod. Over the coming months, in fulfilment of the direction of the 2021–23 General Synod, the Way Forward team will be working hard to prepare a framework for how the LCANZ might operate as ‘one church with two practices of ordination’. This is a critical time in the life of our church, and we know you’ll want to be informed and engage in the process. The Way Forward eNews will be your point of connection for all things Way Forward as and when they become available.

The Way Forward project was established by the General Church Board and the College of Bishops to respond to the resolution passed by 2021-23 General Synod. Since April 2023 the project team has called for models from across the LCANZ and recently completed the evaluation of the models.

You are invited to attend a one-hour public webinar presented by the Way Forward team. During the webinar, the team will:

• share an overview of the process
• outline the three frameworks that will be enhanced during October 2023 to July 2024
• share how you can engage with the Way Forward.

Registration is essential. The content for the three webinars is repeated; you will only need to attend one webinar. All three webinars will be recorded.

THREE FRAMEWORKS 

A robust evaluation process was approved for use by the General Church Board and College of Bishops to generate the three frameworks and involved both quantitative and qualitative analysis. This followed the call for models from across the church in June. The three frameworks will be enhanced, with further details being added between October 2023 and July 2024.
