Traffic to shift onto new section of SH1 north of roundabout

Guardrail installation and line marking is currently underway on the new section of SH1 north of the roundabout in preparation for traffic to be moved onto the new section on Sunday night.

Depending on when this work is completed, we may open one lane northbound after the morning peak this Friday to help compact and smooth the seal ahead of the traffic switch.

Shifting the temporary steel safety barriers will get underway from 7pm Sunday 17 January. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane under stop/go traffic control and a 30km/hr speed limit will be in place between the roundabout and the top of the hill.

The team will work through the night to shift temporary barriers and complete final line marking before opening the new section to traffic on Monday morning.

There may be travel delays this Sunday night so please plan your journeys and allow extra time to get to your destination on time.
