Calvary Noosa

Date: 28 January 2022

Dear Resident and Family Members,

Following our last update to residents and families, I am writing to advise that the latest round of testing has identified an additional one (1) resident and four (4) staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number in the current outbreak to twenty (20) including five (5) residents and fifteen (15) staff.

The additional staff members who tested positive were identified via our RAT test screening procedures, and did not enter the home.

Our testing regime continues today across all residents, and we will update you with any information, including results, as soon as they are available.

With Roberts unit residents now de-isolated, please see below for updated information regarding visitations and residents movement about their unit.

Updated Unit Information for Residents and Families

  • Roberts unit- In line with Public Health Unit advice, from today 28 January 2022 our Roberts residents have been de-isolated. Residents may move freely within their unit and visitation is permitted,
  • Leigh unit- All memory support residents may move freely within their unit.
  • James unit - All residents in isolation and will be cared for in their rooms. James unit remains closed to visitation.
  • Wales unit- All residents in isolation and will be cared for in their rooms. Wales unit remains closed to visitation.
  • Coles/Stevens units- Residents may move freely within their unit and visitation continues at this time.
  • Hester/Andrews- Residents may move freely within their unit and visitation continues at this time.

Our staff are in contact with the families of the COVID positive residents and are keeping them informed. Calvary will update you again as soon as any information becomes available.

We understand that it is very difficult for residents to be cared for in their rooms and not have visitors. Please be assured that our team will continue to ensure the holistic care needs of all residents are met and calls and video conferencing is available for loved ones to remain in contact.

Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the Manager of your Home to discuss arrangements.

A reminder: Guidelines and information for visitors

  • In line with Calvary’s recent national visitor update of 29 December 2021, and due to the continuing heightened risk of infection, one nominated visitor only per resident will be permitted. This will be in place until further notice.
  • Each family should nominate the visitor and notify the home manager. The visitor is strongly encouraged to have obtained a booster vaccine if they are eligible.
  • Visitor entry to the home is between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
  • We kindly ask that visitors limit their visit to one (1) hour.
  • The visit must take place in the resident’s room.
  • The nominated visitor is required to complete screening requirements prior to entry.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or for compassionate visits. Please speak with the home manager.
  • As a precaution to keeping residents safe, visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process.

Thank you for working with us so generously to ensure the safety of all residents in our care.
