NRB President & CEO, Policy Director Meet with FCC Officials
On Tuesday, August 23, NRB President & CEO Troy A. Miller and Director of Public Policy and Communications Noelle Garnier met with Holly Saurer, Media Bureau chief and legal advisor to Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel, and David Strickland, legal advisor for media, at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) headquarters in Washington, D.C.
“We greatly appreciated the opportunity to meet in person with two of the FCC’s top legal advisors and share the perspective of religious broadcasters on issues of longstanding importance to our members, as well as up-and-coming proposals with significant impacts,” Miller said.

ADF Names Kristen Waggoner Next President & CEO
On August 19, NRB member Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) announced Kristen Waggoner as its new president and CEO. Following Michael Farris, who has served as ADF’s CEO since 2017, and Alan Sears, who served twenty-three years as ADF’s founding CEO, Waggoner will take the office of president and CEO on October 1. Waggoner will continue in her role as general counsel, and Farris will serve ADF in a new role in “advancing the mission of the organization in specific key areas related to his expertise,” as ADF outlined in a press release.
ADF Secures a Victory for Christian School’s Nutrition Program
Representing a Christian school that serves low-income families and minority communities in Tampa, Florida, Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys filed a lawsuit, Grant Park Christian Academy v. Fried, on July 27 against President Joe Biden and Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried for threatening to deny funding for school lunches due to the school’s refusal to conform to the Biden administration’s radical, gender-identity agenda.
