For SXSW Edu this year we have put together a panel that focuses on the amazing work being done in the community to advance indigenous languages and data stewardship.

Here's the pitch: 

"There are presently over 3000 languages in danger of becoming extinct. Their loss would be profound: entire world-views are encoded into the nuances of language: their wisdom and perspectives can provide important ways to understand our shared humanity. This panel explores the intersection of cutting-edge technologies and data sovereignty by Native American technologists and linguistics experts using AI and XR to create contextualized, place-based, immersive linguistic soundscapes and visual environments available worldwide."  

Take the #OurWorlds Challenge: Learn about the lands around you!

We are thrilled to invite you to be a part of our territory recognition project in collaboration with Native Land Digital, whose work includes mapping indigenous territories across the world. OurWorlds has been working with them to extend their API into augmented reality and other immersive realities. 

From anywhere you are, open the OurWorlds app and look for the Territory button on the lower left side of the screen. Tap on it and follow the prompts. You will then see the names of the indigenous lands around you, hovering over you in augmented reality.  Snap a photo and share to your socials with the tag #ourworlds or email it to us at team@ourworlds.io.

From the rainforests of Hawaii to 135^th Street in New York City, people from all over the country have been sending us their geolocated screen shots.
