Sporting organisations need to look deeply at their histories with child abuse

Just like the Lutheran Church a sporting club is far from immune, when it comes to sexual offenders, with aspects of its traditional practices and culture actually enabling the perpetration of abuse.
Abuse survivor awarded $1.9 million from Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne
The Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne has been ordered to pay $1.9 million in damages to an altar boy who was sexually abused by one of its priests. The survivor’s lawyer said the decision was a landmark judgement and would make it much easier for other survivors to sue churches for abuse.
