Slip repair work at Waitaruke, north of Kāeo, will begin soon.
Kia ora koutou,
We want to let you know about some upcoming slip repair work in your area.
Before the end of the month, construction will begin on two slip repairs on State Highway 10 (SH10) north of Kāeo, located near Waitaruke and Totara North Road.
To fix the slip, we’ll begin with earthworks and will install steel beams and concrete panels to retain and strengthen the roadside to prevent any further movement.
We plan to be completed by the end of January (including sealing and road marking) but both lanes may be open (one with a gravel surface) earlier than this.
The temporary traffic light system and 30km/h temporary speed limit will remain throughout construction and barriers will provide a safe environment for both workers and public.
With SH1 through the Mangamuka Gorge closed, our focus is SH10 and ensuring it is working safely and efficiently to accommodate additional traffic, particularly over the summer holiday period.
We appreciate your patience while travelling through our work sites. Please keep to the speed limits and look out for our crews so everyone can get home safely to their loved ones.
