Bondi Memorial Community Launch

This Saturday 4 June, 10.30 - 11.30am, Marks Park

ACON and Waverley Council invite you to the community launch of the Bondi Memorial, this Saturday 4 June from 10.30am at Marks Park.

The Bondi Memorial is dedicated to all the victims and survivors targeted during a spate of homophobic and transphobic violence from the 1970s to the 1990s in Sydney and NSW. Many of these incidents took place in Marks Park.

We hope you can join us as we officially unveil this monument of remembrance, reflection, hope, strength, healing, truth and justice.

Single-use plastic bags banned

Did you hear? As of yesterday, single-use plastic bags have been banned in NSW!

It's expected that we'll be preventing roughly 2.7 billion pieces of litter from harming our beautiful waterways and natural environment.

So what does that mean for you? Make sure to keep your reusable bags handy when heading out to the shops.

Solar panels on the roof of Bondi Pavilion

The Pavilion goes green

We're thrilled to have received a five star greenstar rating for the Bondi Pavilion. Here are some of the sustainability features that helped us achieve this rating:

  • 217 solar panels on the roof
  • natural light in many internal spaces
  • fans and ventilation to reduce reliance on air-conditioning, using ocean breezes instead
  • re-used and preserved timber floors

You'll be able to see it all for yourself when the Pavilion reopens this spring.
