June Business Networking Breakfast

A BIG thank you to everyone who came along to our Business Breakfast last month.

Guests heard from keynote speaker Scott Phillips, The Motley Fool Australia's Australian Chief Investment Officer, and Channel 9 finance expert. Scott spoke to local business owners and gave them valuable insights into the current economic landscape, its potential future trajectory, encouraging them to "hang in there".  He said that "Cardinia's status as a growth area will also be a benefit to local business owners...you tend to get faster recovery and better recovery overall."

The event was a great opportunity to network with other local business professionals and gain valuable insights into the local and wider economy.

Local businesses are invited to join What's On Cardinia Winterfest 2023 before it ends on Sunday 9 July 2023!

By participating, businesses can benefit from free promotion and marketing. Winterfest, aims to support the local economy and highlight local experiences.

The Cardinia Foundation is a philanthropic Community Foundation for Cardinia Shire, raising funds to support local not-for-profit groups to deliver projects that make a local impact.

The foundation provides grants to projects that support the growing needs of its communities now and into the future.

Changes for businesses coming on 1 July 2023

From 1 July 2023 there will be a number of changes that your business should be aware of, including changes to the national minimum wage, super guarantee rate and business name fees.

Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee

The Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee is an Australian-first initiative giving Victorian casual and contract workers in certain jobs up to 38 hours a year of sick and caregiver’s pay. Payments are made at the national minimum wage.

The Sick Pay Guarantee is a pilot program fully funded by the Victorian Government that will run for two years, until 14 March 2024.

Paid family and domestic violence leave for small businesses

All employees in the Fair Work system (including part-time and casual employees) will soon be entitled to 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave in a 12-month period.

The new entitlement will become available to employees of small business employers (employers with less than 15 employees on 1 February 2023), from 1 August 2023. Employees of non-small business employers have been able to access the leave from 1 February 2023.

Visitor Servicing Fund Stream B EXTENDED

Visitor Servicing Fund Stream B has been extended to 4pm Monday 24th July.

The Visitor Servicing Fund is supporting the Victorian tourism industry to deliver innovative visitor information tools that encourage people to stay longer and spend more across the state.

The Fund will ensure current and future visitor information needs are met and exceeded.

Did you know the Digital Solutions program works with small businesses to adopt digital tools to save you time and money and help your business grow digitally?

You can access a range of workshops and webinars for free, and for a small fee, you can get up to four hours of one-on-one advice tailored to your business.

These technologies can grow our economy and optimise many aspects of our lives, but there are risks. The Department of Industry, Science and Resources is consulting on approaches to mitigate risks and support safe and responsible AI practices.
