Guests heard from keynote speaker Scott Phillips, The Motley Fool Australia's Australian Chief Investment Officer, and Channel 9 finance expert. Scott spoke to local business owners and gave them valuable insights into the current economic landscape, its potential future trajectory, encouraging them to "hang in there". He said that "Cardinia's status as a growth area will also be a benefit to local business owners...you tend to get faster recovery and better recovery overall." Victorian Sick Pay GuaranteeThe Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee is an Australian-first initiative giving Victorian casual and contract workers in certain jobs up to 38 hours a year of sick and caregiver’s pay. Payments are made at the national minimum wage. The Sick Pay Guarantee is a pilot program fully funded by the Victorian Government that will run for two years, until 14 March 2024. Paid family and domestic violence leave for small businessesAll employees in the Fair Work system (including part-time and casual employees) will soon be entitled to 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave in a 12-month period. The new entitlement will become available to employees of small business employers (employers with less than 15 employees on 1 February 2023), from 1 August 2023.
