Calvary Noosa

Date: 27 January 2022

Dear Resident and Family Members,

Following our last update to residents and families, I am writing to advise that through the current testing regime, an additional 2 residents and 1 staff have tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number in the current outbreak to 17 including 4 residents and 13 staff.

One resident resides in Leigh unit and one resides in James unit.  The Covid positive residents from Leigh and James units have been temporarily transferred to the Douglas unit which is currently not occupied.  Staff are specialling these residents in Douglas.

The exposure in Leigh unit has been deemed low risk by the Public Health Unit, therefore the residents in Leigh unit are not confined to their rooms.  James and Wales units have been deemed a higher risk due to attendance of one Covid positive resident in the main dining room.

Therefore as a precaution, residents from James and Wales units have been placed in isolation this afternoon and must remain and be cared for in their rooms until further notice.  Visitations are not permitted to James and Wales units at this time.

Unit updates

  • Leigh unit- All memory support residents may move freely within their unit.  The single Covid positive resident has temporarily transitioned to Douglas unit. Whilst two residents refused testing, all other residents have been RAT tested returning a negative result.
  • James unit - All residents in isolation and will be cared for in their rooms. James unit remains closed to visitation. The Covid positive resident has been temporarily transferred to Douglas unit.  All other residents have commenced RAT testing this evening.
  • Wales unit- All residents in isolation and will be cared for in their rooms. Wales unit remains closed to visitation.  RAT testing has commenced for all residents this evening.
  • Coles/ Stevens units- Residents may move freely within their unit and visitation continues at this time.  RAT testing is commencing for all residents this evening as a precautionary measure.
  • Roberts unit- All residents have undergone Day 6 RAT testing and returned a negative result.  As per the Public Health Unit advice, these residents will be de-isolated tomorrow (28th Jan 2022) and visitation to this unit can recommence.
  • Hester/Andrews- Residents may move freely within their unit and visitation continues at this time.  Covid positive residents remain in isolation.

Our staff are in contact with the families of the COVID positive residents and are keeping them informed. Calvary will update you again as soon as any information becomes available.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

We understand that it is very difficult for residents to be cared for in their rooms and not have visitors. Please be assured that our team will continue to ensure the holistic care needs of all residents are met and calls and video conferencing is available for loved ones to remain in contact.

Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the Manager of your Home to discuss arrangements.

We know that this will be worrying for you and your loved ones in our care. We want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to continue to look after the health and wellbeing of all our residents while keeping them safe during this difficult time.

You can help us by sharing this information with your family and friends

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Cassaniti
General Manager Aged Care
