BB New Zealand Communication Kia ora I am probably more rebel than royalist, with the exception of the Prince of Peace of course. I don’t know many people who don’t have the upmost respect for the Queen and her legacy. I do love dogs but of all the breeds the one I like least are corgis! We had a corgi in our neighbourhood when I was growing up and his name was Brin, and he would never shut up. In fact, his own family to yelled at him just as much as we did as kids as his barking was incessant. The Queen obviously loved corgis and had 5 of them at one stage. As a belated tribute I heard the story over the weekend that showed the real humanity of the Queen. Apparently, she decided 18 years ago not to breed any more corgis. She did this so she would not leave the dogs without their beloved owner. She did have two Corgis at the time of her passing which were "on loan" from other family members who have now taken them back. Anyone that knows and loves dogs would appreciate this. There are thousands of stories like this throughput her reign, and I absolute respect for her dedication and service to the people of the Commonwealth. I pray that Queen Elizabeth would hear the words we all strive to hear, “well done good and faithful servant” I will leave the last words to our President Richard and his thoughts on the passing of the longest serving Monarch in history. We're surrounded by so many people who have done extraordinary things in their lives. They are inspirational, and challenge us to be the better person. The Queen is one such person, and our world has been all the richer with such a great Monarch. 70 years is an incredible achievement, and truly shows us what it means when we talk about commitment, loyalty and tenacity. And so, it is with great sadness that we acknowledge her passing, and pray for her family, and close friends at this time of huge loss. The Queen was a great example to all of us, of strength, dignity and decorum. And on many an occasion the Queen had to deal with incredibly difficult times, maintaining integrity and respect. You have to admire how the Queen lived a life of discipline, and servanthood, following the teachings of Jesus Christ. Had the Queen been in BB, she would have easily earned the DIRT Boy Badge: for Discipline, Integrity, Respect and Tenacity! It has been an honour for BB in New Zealand to set the highest award possible as the Queens Badge; celebrated at Government House, and at the Queens Award Dinner. We had opportunity to recognise what a great Monarch we had, with all the respect due for such a prestigious occasion. Sadly, no longer will we raise our glasses to the Queen's Toast, but we will not forget, no... we will remember. Just think what an amazing legacy of all the Queen's Men we have right here thanks to BB in New Zealand. 70 years of Royal recognition! Legend! PS. This year the Queens Badge will remain for those due to be awarded. Richard Harkness National BB President Our sincere thanks to Les Bouterey who passed on the following information which includes a list of all the Queens Men to be awarded at BB 6th Christchurch. Just imagine how many men have been awarded their Queens Badge in New Zealand during the Queen's reign!! A farewell to finish! |
