Get Moving for Lung Cancer Awareness Month
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the strength of our community and raise awareness of the disease. LUNGevity Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts are sharing patient and caregiver stories, expert videos, and lung cancer facts throughout the month.
A great way to get involved in raising awareness about lung cancer is by joining the Breathe Deep TOGETHER walk on Saturday, November 5. Thousands of people from across the country, coming together in a singular event, is a great way to make our voices heard and increase visibility of lung cancer. Will you join us?
In-person walks are happening in Boston, Chicago, New York City, Northeast Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC. But the largest walk is happening in neighborhoods across the country with patients, caregivers, friends, and family joining us virtually. There’s a way for everyone to get involved and create a team today.

Investing in the Lung Cancer Workforce
LUNGevity strongly believes in investing in the thoracic oncology workforce of the future and recently announced our latest round of funding of $1.7 million over two years. Our Career Development Awards, now in their 11th year, are core to our research program, and we also increased our investment in our VA Scholars Program, our Health Equity Fellows, and our Health Equity Scholars Program. The awardees come from institutions such as Stanford University and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and are investigating important topics in the field.

Our Focus on Increasing Patient Services
We are proud to introduce you to the newest member of our Leadership Team. Ann Fish-Steagall, BSN, RN, has joined LUNGevity as our Senior Vice President of Patient Services. Ann spent over 30 years working in oncology nursing, patient care policy, and clinical operations. She has the direct patient experience to continue the growth of our services with a focus on survivorship and community outreach.
Ann’s involvement will ensure that patient needs continue to direct how LUNGevity supports and provides services to all families impacted by lung cancer.
